Manometry service launched

Ross Hall Hospital and SCI unveiled a state-of-the-art anorectal manometry system in June 2009 which enables patients with a variety of chronic and troublesome bowel symptoms to be assessed in a comfortable out-patient setting.

The service is co-ordinated by Sister Eileen Grabham, Colorectal Nurse Specialist, who has an extensive experience in the physiological assessment of patients with colorectal disorders. Using single-use disposable gas-charged manometry catheters and cutting edge software for data analysis the system enables rapid assessment of patients with functional problems including incontinence and constipation.

Anorectal manometry takes approximately 15minutes to perform and is painless. The service, which is the first of its kind in the private sector in Scotland, is available to all referring specialists including colleagues in Gastroenterology, Urology, Gynaecology, Neurology and Dermatology.
Referrals from general practitioners can be made via SCI (see Contact Us).

Hospital specialists can refer directly to Sister Grabham via Ross Hall Hospital switchboard (0141 810 3151 Page 613) or by e-mail: egrabham@bmihealthcare.co.uk, quoting procedure code G110.
